Welcome to Remindly ("we," "our," or "the App"). We are firmly committed to protecting your personal privacy. This Privacy Policy details our practices concerning the collection, storage, and handling of your data when you use the Remindly mobile application.
1. Offline-First Architecture & Zero Data Collection
Remindly is built from the ground up as a 100% offline-first application. We do not maintain cloud servers to collect, upload, or store your private content. You are never required to create an account, log in, or provide an email address to use any feature of the App.
- We do not collect, sell, lease, or monetize any personal data or usage analytics.
- All reminders, tasks, notes, checklists, medicine logs, habits, and financial payment reminders remain strictly stored locally on your device in a secure SQLite database.
- We do not bundle third-party tracking scripts, behavioral analytics, or advertising SDKs.
2. Device Permissions and How They Are Used
To provide reliable alerts and an effortless user experience, Remindly requests certain Android permissions. Each permission is used solely on your local device for its stated functionality:
- Notification Access (
POST_NOTIFICATIONS): Used exclusively to present visual and audio alerts for your scheduled reminders, tasks, and routines. - Exact Alarm Scheduling (
SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM,USE_EXACT_ALARM): Essential for triggering time-sensitive alarms, bill deadlines, and medicine reminders to the exact minute, even when your device enters low-power or Doze mode. - Device Reboot Restoration (
RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED): The Android operating system clears scheduled system alarms upon device restart. This permission allows Remindly to read your local database and restore all upcoming alarms automatically after reboot. - Microphone & Audio (
RECORD_AUDIO): Used only when you tap the microphone button in the Quick Add sheet to dictate a reminder. Voice recognition is processed locally on your device via standard speech-to-text APIs and is never recorded, stored, or transmitted over the internet. - Battery Optimization Exemption: Requested optionally to prevent aggressive hardware-level task killers from terminating scheduled notifications in the background.
3. Data Ownership and Deletion
You retain complete ownership and sovereignty over your data at all times:
- Export & Backup: You can generate a structured, human-readable JSON backup file at any time and save or share it using your device's native sharing sheet.
- Deletion: You can edit or permanently delete any task, category, or reminder at any time. Uninstalling the application permanently removes all local databases and cached data from your device.
4. Children's Privacy
Remindly does not knowingly solicit or collect personal information from children under the age of 13. Because our application collects no personal identifiers or online data whatsoever, it is safe for users of all ages.
5. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect feature updates or regulatory changes. Any updates will be reflected with a revised "Last Updated" date at the top of this document.
